Posted Feb 17th, 2016 in News

2016 Meridian Celebrity Ice Cup Hockey brings people together. Family, friends, and rivals all joining forces on the ice to play the sport they love. In Niagara, our love of hockey is nothing short of obsessive. In typical Niagara fashion, we are doing something bigger and better than ever before, and of course, it involves the game we all love.

For the second year in a row, Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation in partnership with Meridian Credit Union is hosting the Meridian Celebrity Ice Cup – an event that brings Niagara business moguls together with NHL alumni, to support Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

The Meridian Celebrity Ice Cup, beginning on Thursday February 25th for the BayShore Groups Draft Night, allows top fundraising teams first pick at playing with their favourite NHL Alumni. The event continues into Friday, February 26th at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls for a full day of hockey. At 2:30pm, an All Star Game will take place, with the top fundraisers facing off against all of the NHL stars. Thanks to the support of Henley Honda, the tournament is offering a free community skate from 2:30pm – 4:00pm.

With 16 teams comprised of Niagara community leaders, this truly Niagara event showcases the outpouring support the region has to offer. All funds raised will be directed toward patient care equipment for Hotel Dieu Shaver.

Admission to the All-Star game and Community Skate is FREE. More information can be found at: www.celebrityicecup.ca
