Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Foundation launched their 2016 Snowflakes and Angels Christmas Campaign at the inaugural ‘An Evening in the Courtyard’ fundraising reception. The event was held in Hotel Dieu Shaver’s 5,700 square feet of therapy space and saw over 250 people in attendance.
Corey Kantola, a former patient at Hotel Dieu Shaver, kicked off the Christmas Campaign with a video on his experience with staff and the various therapy programs at the hospital. Corey was in a severe motorcycle accident in the spring and had nothing but praise for Hotel Dieu Shaver.
“I am extremely proud to be a part of the Campaign this year,” said Corey. “They’re an amazing group. To have a place that is so involved in patient’s lives, not just physically but mentally, is something I can’t help but support.”
FirstOntario Credit Union and PennTerra Group presented the Foundation with a cheque at the kick-off event to match the first $25,000 in donations that will be given to the Christmas Campaign.
“Both FirstOntario Credit Union and Penn Terra are committed to giving back to the Niagara community,” says Mary DeSousa, Executive Vice President of Marketing at FirstOntario Credit Union. “We were amazed by the remarkable work that the staff do for the residents of Niagara each and every day. We know that these dollars raised are an integral piece in providing staff with the necessary equipment to treat patients and we are thrilled that we can be a part of such a worthy cause.”
