One staff member at Hotel Dieu Shaver has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating at home. At this point, there are no other known cases within the hospital involving either staff or patients.
As a precautionary measure, and in adherence with Public Health advice and directives, some identified staff have been asked to isolate at home, and a small number of identified patients have been placed in precautionary isolation.
Visitor restrictions have been further increased until such time as the matter is resolved and cleared by Niagara Public Health. To the extent possible, communication has been made with family members of patients who have been placed in precautionary isolation.
“Our utmost priority is the safety of our patients, our community and our staff and physicians. Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team, along with our Occupational Health team, in partnership with Niagara Public Health, will monitor the situation closely and make adjustments as required,” states Lynne Pay, Chief Executive Officer. “We appreciate and thank everyone at Hotel Dieu Shaver, our patients, their visitors and the community for their ongoing commitment and patience as we continue to make best efforts to provide the safest environment possible.”
Our Occupational Health & Safety team provides members of the hospital with support on an ongoing basis.
