COVID-19 Outbreak Update & Outpatient Rehabilitation Changes

Posted Dec 30th, 2020 in News

UPDATE ON OUTBREAK STATUS AT HDS

As declared by Public Health, Unit 2 West at HDS remains in a COVID-19 outbreak. As of today, 2 additional staff have tested positive (total of 10 staff) and all are at home self-isolating. 1 additional patient has tested positive on 2 West (total of 13 patients).

COVID-19 TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF NON-URGENT IN-PERSON AMBULATORY REHABILITATION VISITS

Beginning Monday, January 4, 2021, HDS will be temporarily suspending all non-urgent in-person ambulatory rehabilitation visits as part of our COVID-19 response. Programs and services that are able to be provided through virtual care will continue to do so.

These are very difficult decisions, as we understand and appreciate the impact that postponed rehabilitation will have on our patients and their families. In light of this decision, we will be contacting all current outpatients to discuss their rehabilitation plan. We anticipate that these changes may continue for a number of weeks.

We will continue to monitor the situation with our health partners. Our commitment, as always, is to ensure the safety of all patients, staff and physicians.
