We are very proud to announce that Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre’s Pharmacy has received a Certificate of Accreditation from The Ontario College of Pharmacists.
Throughout 2015, hospital practice advisors conducted baseline assessments of all hospital pharmacies in Ontario. The Ontario College of Pharmacists ensure that only those pharmacies that have met the accreditation criteria are authorized to operate in Ontario by conducting inspections of the facilities to ensure compliance with established standards.
Over 400 standards were presented and reviewed with Hotel Dieu Shaver staff over a period of 2 days and each standard was scored. Following this review, several enhancements and recommendations were made to the pharmacy departmental process to meet the guidelines and to improve patient safety. These recommendations will be used to develop our next steps to ensure Hotel Dieu Shaver’s Pharmacy is continuously providing quality improvements.
