In the Ontario Hospital Association’s (OHA) third year of the Green Hospital Scorecard Program, Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre qualified for the Silver award. The Green Hospital Scorecard is a program designed to enable a high-level assessment of hospital’s environmental performance.
“The Green Hospital Scorecard is a great tool to assist Hotel Dieu Shaver in identifying areas for environmental improvement,” explains Jane Rufrano, CEO of Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre. “We are extremely proud that we were able to maintain our Silver award.”
The intention of participation in the Scorecard is to report with trending data how attention to environmental performance is making a difference in Ontario’s hospitals. The Scorecard interprets twelve different levels of data including Energy Use, Waste Generation, Water Use and Recycling Rate.
“Leadership at Hotel Dieu Shaver is committed to environmental sustainability initiatives at the hospital,” continues Rufrano. “By reducing environmental impacts and becoming more energy efficient, such as our lighting retrofit program, Hotel Dieu Shaver will be able to generate savings that will be re-invested into our programs and services.”
