At Hotel Dieu Shaver (HDS) a second healthcare worker in as many weeks has tested positive for COVID-19.
One staff member at Hotel Dieu Shaver has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating at home. At this point, there are no other known cases within the hospital involving either staff or patients.

Last week the Provincial Government announced a significant investment in a program designed to improve patient flow, provide safe discharges and better connect patients with rehabilitation services in the community. In partnership with Niagara Health, Hotel Dieu Shaver will be part of an OT/PT team that will provide assessment and rehabilitation treatment to patients at Niagara Health acute-care sites.
The provincial government’s Ministry of Health has announced a new vision for health care in Ontario. A key element of their strategy involves setting up Ontario Health Teams, or OHTs, which the government has defined as groups of care providers and organizations that are clinically and financially accountable for delivering a full and coordinated continuum of care to a defined population.

As you will recall, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Infrastructure attended the Hospital in February of 2019 to confirm that Hotel Dieu Shaver would be receiving a planning grant for expansion of our inpatient beds.
What is your current position/role? I am the Vice President of Corporate Services and am currently honoured to be also serving as the Interim CEO for the Hotel Dieu Shaver.

Hotel Dieu Shaver is pleased to share with you that the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care announced that Niagara has been approved to move forward to submit a full application for an Ontario Health Team (OHT).
On Thursday, June 13, the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation presented Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre with a cheque for $662,040.74 for the hospital’s 2018-2019 equipment and programming needs. The presentation was made at the Foundation’s annual Pasta Dinner and donor recognition event which saw over 430 staff, patients, volunteers and community members.

Hotel Dieu Shaver makes every effort to build our facility on the principle of mutual respect and would like to update its current Patient Rights and Responsibilities to reflect our beliefs. Hotel Dieu Shaver would appreciate the public consult on the proposed changes.
In accordance with the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre is publishing a list of employees who earned over $100,000 in salary and taxable benefits during the previous calendar year.
