Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre recently recognized two outgoing members of its Board of Trustees, Bob Lawler and John Rollo, for their years of dedicated leadership, service, and commitment to the hospital's mission.
The recognitions took place during HDS's June Board of Trustees meeting, where Chief Executive Officer Dr. David Ceglie thanked both trustees for the lasting impact they have made on the organization and the patients and communities it serves.
Bob Lawler: Strengthening Governance and Financial Stewardship
Bob Lawler joined the HDS Board of Trustees in March 2017 and served the organization for nine years.
Throughout his tenure, Bob chaired both the Governance Committee and the Finance & Audit Committee, helping strengthen the hospital's governance practices and financial stewardship during a period of continued growth and transformation.
Drawing on his extensive financial and healthcare leadership experience, Bob provided thoughtful guidance and strategic insight that supported the long-term sustainability of Hotel Dieu Shaver.
"Bob's willingness to share his expertise, ask thoughtful questions, and mentor others has had a lasting impact on our organization," said Dr. Ceglie. "We are deeply grateful for his leadership and his unwavering commitment to our mission."
John Rollo: A Champion for Patients and Quality Care
John Rollo joined the Board of Trustees in December 2017 and quickly became one of Hotel Dieu Shaver's strongest advocates.
As Chair of the Quality Committee, John consistently championed patient-centred care, ensuring that quality and safety remained at the forefront of Board discussions and decision-making.
Known for his compassion, humility, and thoughtful leadership, John challenged both Board members and hospital leaders to continually strive for excellence while never losing sight of the patient experience.
"John has been an extraordinary ambassador for Hotel Dieu Shaver," said Dr. Ceglie. "His leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment to our patients and our mission have helped strengthen our organization in countless ways."
