At Hotel Dieu Shaver, we are incredibly blessed to have the most amazing team of volunteers and it brings us great pleasure each year to shout from the rooftops how lucky we are to have them!
This past year has been extremely difficult, for many reasons, one being that COVID-19 has kept our volunteers from us. Our volunteers are integrated into every part of Hotel Dieu Shaver – through the Auxiliary, Board of Trustees, Patient and Family Advisory Council, HDS Foundation and much more. We look SO forward to physically welcoming our volunteers back into our hallways and hospital rooms, as soon as it is safe to do so.
The National Volunteer Week theme for 2021, The Value of One, The Power of Many, reflects on the awe-inspiring acts of kindness of individuals and the magic that happens when people work together towards a common purpose.
The devotion of our volunteers, to help, listen, inspire, and to learn, is awe-inspiring. Our volunteers transform the lives of those that come into our hospital. Each one gives their time so generously expecting nothing in return but the reward of feeling joy knowing they have positively impacted someone’s day.
Thank you to our volunteers, for their compassion and for seeing the need and responding. Thank you for being the inspiration the world needs, especially now.
