Position: Senior Financial Analyst

Position Objective:
The incumbent is a member of the Finance team at both Hotel Dieu Shaver and Quest CHC. This is a unique position where the incumbent will report to the Chief Financial Officer at HDS and the Executive Director at Quest, supporting both organizations with the analysis, reporting, and decision-making functions. The incumbent provides leadership in budgeting, forecasting, financial performance monitoring, funding analysis, and strategic financial initiatives. Working closely with clinical and operational leaders, the Senior Financial Analyst delivers meaningful financial insights, and achievement of strategic objectives.
The incumbent will be considered a full-time staff member at Hotel Dieu Shaver.
The successful candidate will:
- Support the annual operating and capital budget development process in conjunction with leadership.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
- Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required by leadership.
- Conduct trend analysis and benchmarking to support strategic decision-making.
- Analyze revenues, expenditures, volumes, and staffing metrics.
- Support the capital division with the accurate reporting of transactions, cash flow management and complete and/or support reporting to Ministry of Health for HDS.
- Monitor and analyze funding allocations and changes in funding methodologies.
- Preparation and submission of required reports to provincial healthcare agencies and regulatory bodies including but not limited to the Ontario Health, M-SAA, H-SAA, OHRS, ARR, HST, Charitable return, Niagara Region, Infrastructure Ontario, various grants and special project funding.
- General Payroll Oversight at Quest
- Timely and accurate staff set up in EmployerD; benefit enrolments; staff charges for LTD, benefit copay, leaves & HOOPP, LTD; termination of staff
- Backfill for Administrative Coordinator for payroll and pension calculations & AP for Quest.
- Monitor and record all cash disbursements, expenditures, and receipts, ensuring timely, effective, and accurate record keeping for Quest.
- Attend Resource and Risk Committee meetings monthly and quarterly Board of Director Meetings as required for Quest.
- Ensure compliance with hospital financial policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes.
- Support external and internal audit requirements including but not limited to preparing of all reconciliations and year-end working papers.
- Review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Act as a trusted advisor to department managers and organizational leaders.
- Foster strong working relationships across clinical, operational, and corporate departments.
The successful candidate will possess:
- University Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent.
- A CPA designation (or enrolment in CPA program).
- Must possess 5-7 years of financial analysis experience in healthcare, not-for-profit or broader public sector organizations.
- Understanding of healthcare funding methodologies and healthcare financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including other Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated payroll analysis experience is an asset.
- Previous financial accounting software experience; CCIM (Great Plains) or Meditech is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
Hours of Work:
Monday – Friday, 8 hour days (75 paid hours biweekly).
The successful candidate will work onsite at HDS two days per week, onsite at Quest two days per week and remotely one day a week.
