Hotel Dieu Shaver is entering a pivotal chapter in its history. As the only rehabilitation hospital in Niagara and as we advance a significant capital expansion project, we are seeking experienced and community-minded leaders to join our Board of Trustees.
About Us
Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre is Niagara’s only rehabilitation hospital, providing specialized post-acute care and innovative rehabilitation programs to thousands of patients each year. With 134 inpatient beds and a broad range of outpatient services, HDS plays a vital role in restoring health, rebuilding lives, and renewing hope across our region.

Trustees provide strategic oversight, ensure financial stewardship, and hold the organization accountable for delivering on its mission and long-term vision. Our Board benefits from a variety of perspectives and skills to effectively guide our healthcare decisions.
Hotel Dieu Shaver welcomes applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds, especially those with the following expertise, though possessing experience in these categories is not mandatory:

Duties & Responsibilities of Trustees
Candidates should be ready to commit to Board roles, with the Board meeting approximately 10 times a year. We offer a hybrid model for meetings, allowing both in-person and virtual attendance to accommodate all members.
Time Commitment:
- Prepare for and attend monthly Board meetings, willing to serve on standing committee(s) of the Board
- Attend the Annual General Meeting
- Support HDS events
- Terms are three years in length, with the opportunity for renewal to a maximum of nine years
Trustees can expect to commit approximately 6–10 hours per month, including meeting preparation, committee participation, and community engagement. Trustees are also expected to serve as an advocate for Hotel Dieu Shaver in the wider community.
